???? // The 4 question marks // Hate it too

Way back at the old site I did have that short-running series called "???? - The 4 question marks". It was all about a reverse concept to all those in-depth interviews and was based on sometimes goofy, sometimes sloppy, sometimes off-topic, sometimes unusual, sometimes even a bit sassy questions that were thrown at all those nice and polite musicians. So, why not give this series another run, huh? HATE IT TOO seem to love it too, or at least they were kind enough to answer my questions...

HATE IT TOO are based in Quebec, a french speaking area of Canada, and currently signed to Hell for Breakfast Records. They play some kind of Skatepunk but with a more melodic and playful edge to it. They've been a band since 2008 and released their second album "Lampshading" just last year. This album was one of my most played records in 2020 and you should really check it out if you haven't already.

? Do you remember how it was like playing in front of a crowd ?

It’s a cloudy distant memory. All we can remember now are the jaded technicians from the virtual shows we’ve done this last year. We had two great experiences doing these, but we really miss the raw energy of a crowd and the feeling we get when we play our songs live. We can’t wait for things to get back to normal so we can hit the stage and play in front of people.

? What's the most inappropiate Soundtrack you were skating to ?

Our playlist has a wide variety of genres from Old School Funk to Death-Metal to Hip-Hop – as long as it’s catchy, any music can be good for any context. Don't be ashamed of what you like.

? Being together for quite a long time now, for which reason do you absolutely loathe each other ?

At this point, just for having opinions. However, most of us have been playing together for more than 10 years so we know each other pretty well to focus on our strengths to avoid useless conversation, especially when making decisions that have nothing to do with the music itself.

? Your favourite Bad Religion-record ?

Anything before or after "Into the Unknown". Don’t care much about the "Christmas"-record either.
