Silent Drive - Dearly Beloved (Video)
It's pretty unreal to witness these guys releasing their long awaited sophomore album. "Long awaited" is probably a bit understated, 18 years after "Love is worth it". If you don't know this album, check it out immediately, especially if you're into early THRICE, ALEXISONFIRE or AFI circa "Sing the Sorrow"... but nah, cut those references, cause they had their own, unique sound back then. To me, it's possibly the best Post-/Melodic-Hardcore-record of the 2000s, and generally speaking it definitely is one of the genre's best kept secrets.
Their new album "Fairhaven" will be out on June 10 via Equal Vision Records. The single "Dearly Beloved" essentially is a re-worked version of "Mexican Standoff" from their Demo in 2008. It strays away a bit from "Love is worth it", but what's important is, that it still feels like SILENT DRIVE. I gotta wait for the whole thing to drop to classify it. "Love is worth it" worked because of the heavy contrasts and the bands' ability to switch back and forth between an elegant half-ballad with piano in it and a fast, groovy neckbreacker with vicious screaming. Let's see if "Fairhaven" is able to create the same magic, but honestly speaking, it's a "Mission: Impossible" to top 2004's masterpiece...
