A Review for a Second Release by Riversleem
Riversleem - "A Second Release by Riversleem" Label: Zegema Beach Records |
I digged RIVERSLEEM's debut EP from 2021, but I dig their "Second Release" even more. They stay true to their formula with slightly chaotic and also pretty moshy 2000s-Metalcore with a solid Punk-backbone and shrieky vocals. No wonder why this came out on Zegema Beach!
They heavily call to mind CONVERGE somewhere between "When forever comes crashing" and "Jane Doe". However, the Canadians are pretty straight in their approach and that's a good thing, as I always liked CONVERGE the most when they were like "let's fuck it all up in two and a half minutes". Three of the four songs are in this kind of fashion, only the closer "Antispore" sees them ride the midtempo, but eventually they find their way to the uptempo in the final stretch of the song. Apart from the more streamlined songwriting, the biggest upside -compared to their debut- is the production. Everything sounds powerful and mean, though still rough enough to give it a lovely oldschool vibe.
With "A Second Release" RIVERSLEEM reached a new level of confidence. This EP is 11 minutes of no-thrills-and-no-bullshit-action. And that's all a HC-record sometimes has got to be.
Klingt ziemlich nach Axe To Fall.
ReplyDeleteJa?
DeleteDie cheesy Metal Guitar Leads erinnern mich an Axe To Fall.
