Review: Nowhere - E.P.
Label: DIY |
The five songs on their debut EP are short in time, short on bullshit, but high on nasty grooves and dark atmosphere. What I do like is that NOWHERE aren't as one-dimensional as other Noise-Rock-bands (UNSANE anyone?). While the minute-long "Fool" really is a fucked up bulldozer in the best UNSANE-tradition, the longest track "Weight" progresses slowly and takes out the noise in favor of some melody and moody soundscapes. That bridge is cool too! The nice groove from "Loose Lip" reminds me of the one in the song "Hi Hat" by the long forgotten Canadian band PHLEG CAMP. That's a nice throwback, especially cause it took me some time to remember.
Essentially, you know what to do if you're into AmRep, Touch & Go, THE JESUS LIZARD, UNSANE, SHELLAC, CHERUBS and all the other cool stuff from the 90s. This EP is a sincere homage to this time, without feeling like a total rip-off.
