Thoughtcrimes - Keyhole Romance (Video)

THOUGHTCRIMES is the new band by former DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN-drummer Billy Rymer and therefor there were some eyes on this project from the very beginning on. I expected nothing when I went into their debut album "Altered Pasts" and now I'm more than pleased by it. As someone who lost touch to DEP after their early stuff, I gotta admit I enjoy this album way more than anything DEP has done after "Miss Machine". 

It's not like they're a straight continuation of this early style, there are some similarities there, for sure... but in essence they combine this technical Mathcore-stuff with more straight stuff in the vein of BOTCH or THE CHARIOT, Alt-Rock/Metal-tendencies reminiscent of ALICE IN CHAINS and some mellow parts that clearly call to mind the DEFTONES. The singing is just very Chino-like! It's a cool blend though and pretty entertaining, especially cause "Altered Pasts" is only 34 minutes long and thus it never gets boring.
