Review: NETN - s/t

Label: DIY

Hailing from Ferrara in Italy, NETN play Noise-Rock and -you guessed it right- they are a three-piece. Trios always work best for this kind of style and they once again demonstrate it on their third output, following a Demo and 2018's "Dangerfield". Somewhere down the road they renamed themselves, cause they started out as "NIET"...

What you get are six songs, and most of them are roughly 3 minutes long. They don't play the convulted, overflowing kind of Noise-Rock Ă  la SHELLAC, they act more straight forward and with Punkrock in their heart. I can hear THE JESUS LIZARD or UNSANE in this. You could probably call them the Punkrock-version of them. NETN aren't as destructive and don't sound as harsh, and the vocals aren't as fucked up. But they also use this kind of one-way-street-approach to songwriting to build a wall-of-sound, before the abruptly start into the next song. It's done very competent, tho it get's a bit samey near the end. The strong closer "Gerda" mixes things up a bit with a slower build-up.

Check this out if you're into straightened up Noise-Rock, the heavy kind of Garage-Punk or fast and loud Punk-music in general.
