"mEMOries" Part 18 feat. Atlanta Arrival

8 years ago, back on the old site, we did start a series called mEMOries. It was all about asking new Emo-bands or other scene affiliates about their all time favourite (Midwest-)Emo-record. It was about nostalgia. And it was about connecting the new with the old. I had big plans for this series, wanted to collect 20 parts and then release some sort of a sampler with an XL-booklet attached, that features all of the text pieces...

...after 7 parts the series was buried, when the end of borderline fuckup 1.0 was on the horizon. I'm still in love with the idea and tried my best to start a relaunch in 2021, but it mainly was a chore. However, I got back on track somehow, with a lot of support by some lovely people. Now, here's part 18 for your reading pleasure!

// The band // Atlanta Arrival

The band out of SaarbrĂĽcken, Germany harkens way back to 2008 where four of their members were active in THE SATELLITE YEAR. Ten years later they formed ATLANTA ARRIVAL, blending Alternative-Rock with Emo-Rock and releasing their debut album in 2019. Currently they are recording their second full length and should be finished before this year closes its doors...

Atlanta Arrival on "Clarity" by Jimmy Eat World

Whenever the organ rises in the intro of Tables for Glasses and is later joined and supported by cymbals and snare, it makes our flesh crawl and a cold shiver of joy runs down our backs. Finally, when the bell fires the pistol to start the chorus, the fever hits us, forcing us to absorb this record in full. And what happens within the next 70 minutes is nothing less than musical history.

We are talking about Jimmy Eat World’s "Clarity". To us, a musical milestone. An unrivaled strong album, from which we were and still are inspired over and over again through the last 15 years as The Satellite Year and Atlanta Arrival. With its raw, transparent yet dynamic sound and the profound songwriting, this record never ceases to amaze. Thank you so much for that.
